U.S.
Flag Disposal Ceremonies
United States flag that are too tattered, torn or faded for display,
are ready to be retired. According to Section 8k of the Flag Code, “The
flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem
for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
If
your U.S. flag is no longer serviceable and is ready for disposal, it
may be dropped off at Post 281, and we will see that it is included
in our next scheduled flag disposal ceremony. And please remember that
Post 281 has new flags available for
a very fair price.
Post 281 recently installed a flag dropoff box (photo on left)
in front of the Post, at the corner or Chews Landing and Lower Landing
Rds. in the Chews Landing section of Gloucester Twp. Flags may be dropped
off in the flag drop box by township residents at any time and they
will be included in the next regular scheduled flag disposal ceremony.
