Community Resources and Services
American Legion Post 281 believes in providing strong support for our community. To this end we participate, both as a Post and as individuals, in Gloucester Twp. programs and services.
Post 281 provides substantial annual financial assistance to the Glendora
Rescue Squad and to the
Triton Regional High School Marching Band.
We participate in the Adopt-a-Road program, and work with our public
school system to provide a quality education to our township's children.
Flag purchase and disposal services are available through Post 281,
and our hall is available for rent by members of our community and surrounding
areas.
One new section — to be updated on a regular
basis — is Living History: the stories of post members and
area residents who served during wartime. This is intended to preserve
their personal histories and to make them available to schools and to
the community. Past stories will be archived and available on the Post
281 site, and may be forwarded to the Library of Congress with the approval
of the person(s) involved. From time to time, we may also include first
person narratives about civilian life during WWII and civilian service
for the military (Red Cross, USO, Army Special Services, etc.) during
periods of conflict.
