Department of New Jersey Scholarships

Luterman Scholarships |
 |
| Seven Luterman scholarships
will be awarded by the Department of New Jersey for 2008. In the past, scholarships have been in the following amounts: |

| Application
forms must be postmarked no later than February
15, 2008.

| Luterman
Scholarship Eligibility |
| 1. |
Applicant must be a natural or adopted
descendant of a member of The American Legion, Department
of New Jersey (son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter,
etc.) |
| 2. |
Applicant’s forbearer
must be a current member of The American Legion, Department
of New Jersey, or if deceased, a MEMBER AT TIME of death. |
| 3. |
Applicant must be a member of the graduating
class of high school including Vo-tech for the year 2008.

| 4. |
Applicant must use the
award the year he or she received it. |
|

Oratorical Contest |
 |
| The purpose of the 63rd High
School Oratorical Contest, sponsored by The American Legion
as a National Americanism Activity, is to develop a deeper
knowledge and understanding of the Constitution of the
Unisted States. Other objectives to be gained are those
of leadership, the abiliy to think and speak clearly and
intelligently, and the preparations for the acceptance
of the duties and responsibilities, the rights and privileges,
of American citizenship. |
