Programs and Awards
Stetser-Lamartine Post 281 is a strong supporter
of The American Legion citizenship,
scholarship and sports
programs.
Post 281 sponsors a number of young men each
year, who are selected to attend the prestigious American Legion
Jersey Boys State program at Rider University in June. And we are
the proud sponsors of the Gloucester Twp. American Legion Baseball
Team in District 4.
On a local level, Post 281 provides scholarship
assistance to seniors in each of the three Black Horse Pike
Regional District high school schools — Highland, Timber
Creek and Triton. An additional Family Scholarship is awarded
annually to a young man or woman who is a descendent of any Post
281, Squadron 281 or Unit 281 member. Auxiliary Unit 281 sponsors
a scholarship in each of the three district high schools, as well.
The American Legion provides substantial scholarship
assistance to students at both the Department
and National level, as well.
Application forms for most scholarships can be downloaded from
this site in PDF format.
As part of Post 281's participation in The American
Legion's Americanism Programs, our post sponsors several contests
at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. Details
on these contests are available through the Gloucester Township
and Black Horse Pike Regional School Districts.
